Review of Rightangled Reports

DNA Reports

DNA results are available in 3 to 4 weeks from the date the sample reaches their lab and can be viewed on their online portal. Users can also download a PDF summary report infographic.

The Heart DNA test identifies markers that can increase or decrease a user’s chances of developing a cardiovascular condition. They include response to heart medications, chances of having abnormal cholesterol levels, among other topics.

The Fitness DNA test includes how the body metabolizes nutrients and responds to different types of exercises. It includes traits such as lactose intolerance, fasting blood glucose, sugar sensitivity, among others.

Below you can see a summary Fitness DNA report.

Rightangled DNA Report

The report only shows a brief explanation of the trait analyzed and the genetic risk associated with the trait. It does not include which genes or analyzed nor links to peer-reviewed scientific studies. Users can access more details on their online account.

Rightangled claims to include an 8-week exercise and diet plan along with the results, although one customer has reported that they did not receive a plan that was tailored to them.

The Wellness Pro test includes reports from both tests mentioned above in this section.

Finally, their most basic test is the Food & Diet DNA test, which covers vitamin requirements and a few dietary intolerances and sensitivities.

Reports include an assessment by a cardiologist or physical trainer, depending on the test.

Lab Reports

Blood test results are available online within a few days of the sample being received by the lab and are presented in a table format. Rightangled includes the name of the test, the results, and the reference ranges.

Users can view whether their results are abnormal by checking the color-coded column included in the results table. A red circle indicates abnormal results, while a green circle indicates normal results.

You can view a snippet of a blood test result below.

Rightangled Lab Results

Results are also divided into categories. For example, in the sample report below, you can see the following categories: liver function, diabetes, cholesterol, vitamins, and inflammation & heart.

Rightangled also includes a section labeled “Doctor’s Comment”, which includes a few general recommendations based on blood test results, but these are very brief and not detailed. Unfortunately, the results do not have scientific references embedded throughout.

It’s also worth mentioning that the company does not take into account functional ranges and will only tell you if your results fall into their normal range. Keep in mind that even if a blood test result is within the normal range, it may not be optimal for your general health.

According to their privacy policy, users are required to pay a fee to receive a copy of their personal data held by the company.

Health Recommendations from Rightangled

Rightangled does appear to offer a medical review assessment along with the results. However, the topics covered by the reports are very limited. The company only offers DNA reports for cardiovascular health, fitness, and diet.

Similarly, when it comes to blood tests, Rightangled only offers a few blood tests users can choose from, and they do not allow you to upload past results to identify trends. The reports also only tell you whether your results are normal. They do not provide information on optimal ranges.

Rightangled Reviews

On the Rightangled Trustpilot page, the company has a rating of 3.7 of 5 stars based on 10k+ reviews. Customers complain about never receiving their results and issues communicating with customer service. One customer suggests they wished Rightangled combined DNA and blood tests for a more complete picture of their health, while another reports they received a “very basic DNA analysis”.

On DNAtestingchoice, the company received an average of 4.5 of 5 stars based on 18 reviews, with most being from 2018. A recent reviewer shares that they never received their DNA test and the company refused to refund them, as it’s against their policy.

In a recent article, The Guardian reported that Rightangled provided “disappointing service” because of delayed COVID test results, and refused “to engage with customers it has let down”.

Rightangled Review Summary

Rightangled’s approach of combining DNA and labs in an attempt to provide a more complete picture of the customer’s health is a good one, although they may lack when it comes to execution.

Their DNA tests cover a small number of topics, which are cardiovascular health, fitness, and diet. Users are also limited by the number of blood tests offered, as they can only choose from the 16 tests available. The company does not allow you to upload past test results to gain further insights into your health.

If you’re looking for a comprehensive analysis of your DNA and labs, SelfDecode could be a good option. SelfDecode looks at up to 83 million genetic variants and over 1,000 lab markers to give personalized diet, lifestyle, and supplement recommendations through over 43 science-backed reports.
